I am a fan of Dez and I am happy he is getting an extension. However, I think there ought to be some sort of clause in every coaches contract that sets a minimum set of expectations. If those expectations are not met over a 2 or 3 year period, there should be a way for the University to void the contract. Such as 2 or 3 consecutive seasons with fewer than 6 or 7 wins, etc. That would surely help with
the type of situation that was just resolved in Basketball.

I know that's not the way it works, but it should.

In today's college sports, 5 years seems like an awful long time.

5 years on paper, but if history holds true they renew and extend every 3 years.

So it ends up being pretty much the same as years past.

What's confusing about it? That's how ALL coaching contracts are structured. Meet these requirements and you get an extension. I'm not saying that this one is an automatic, but that's what typically happens.
