I could see the value in the players having a different hat than the fans. A sense of earning it? Maybe add some to the NIL website as a compromise. Each player gets a certain number of caps maybe, with the number embroidered somewhere on side or back

Exactly. The idea that fans can't buy nice Ragin Cajuns gear unless you're on the team is asinine if trying to build a brand and fan support
