I despise non D1 opponents, but it’s been a staple in basketball in the NCAA for decades.

One of the Cajuns most epic individual performances was Alonzo’s dunk a thon featured Fredonia State as the victim if I recall correctly.

If they don't count to those who decide NCAA Tourney bids, they are nothing more than pre-season games. They should not be in the season ticket package. They should not count towards contractual renewals.

If we ever want to be relevant again in MBB, we have to play and win in OOC games against at least 4 or 5 opponents in the top 100 NET, then win the conference. That may give us a chance at a 12 seed. Regardless of what excuses we have heard over the last 15 years, good, well coached teams win more than they lose, even on the road.

FIFY. There’s no at large headed to the SBC unless the stars align like the passing of Hailey’s comet.

SBC as a whole have to be all in for MBB. Beating dog teams don’t help, McNeese dropped 2 NET spots after beating UL. If this was later in the season, negative impact would be greater.

That is mostly, but not necessarily true. Gonzaga [until this year] and St. Mary are in a crap conference except for each other; both have recently received at large bids.

Once again, private schools, no football. Apples and oranges.

Gonzaga for DECADES spent time (and money) mostly on the road OOC earning a reputation. There are few big boys that will travel to Gonzaga even today. That’s not happening at a public mid major program with FBS football.

LMU was the first WCC team to try to play with the big boys, but they gave up. The PAC2 are now part of the WCC MBB league, so we’ll see once their PAC12 money runs out. Even with the additions, only an 11 team league.

I wouldn’t call the WCC a crap conference in basketball. It was a pretty solid basketball conference similar I guess to the A10 based around basketball athletics wise. Pepperdine, Santa Clara, USF, Loyola Marymount all had some real good runs. Good conference rivalries too.

Correct. They have been a multi bid conference for years and their RPI is not bad historically
