Thread: UL Foundation Report

  1. Default Re: UL Foundation Report

Did the ULLAA ever grant graduates a free membership year upon graduation?

Did they continue the automobile license plate trim plate gifting to new graduates?
Thought that was a great move, can’t monetize that type of advertising.

    Funding, $6.7M total:
    Endowed Professorships: $2M
    Chairs: $2M
    Scholarship Funds: $2M
    Other: $577K

Endowed Funds provided 3.4% of total UL budget.

UL 'Together' Campaign: $453M raised (90% of $500M goal)
    Capital Support: $100M
    Dept/Program Support: $286M
    Scholarships/Student Support: $41M
    Faculty Support: $26M

9 New Chairs (Including UL's 1st In Librarianship)
    48 New Endowed Professorships
    190 New Endowed Scholarships

Stupid question, but how can we have raised $453 million with this campaign but only have $222 million in the endowment?

Since 2017, there is no longer charge for anyone who graduated from the university to become an Alumni Association general member. As a graduate of UL (or SLI or USL), you are automatically a member of the Alumni Association and receive basic membership benefits. There is an event put on by the Alumni Association called Grad Expo where information about the association is handed out along with being able to order cap and gowns, pictures, rings etc. They are reminded to keep their contact information up to date in order to continue receiving information from the association. Some bling is handed out at that event but don't know if the automobile trim plate is. There is also a champagne (or non-alcoholic version if desired) toast for graduates at the Alumni Center where those who participate receive a branded champagne flute.

    Thanks.

The license plate gift is kind of a no brainer. The more the state sees “Louisiana Alumni” the better.

    Info on the larger ones.

    Louisiana:
Louisiana State University (LSU): In 2023, LSU's endowment was $664.2 million for the university and $1.06 billion for the system-wide. LSU's endowment grew from $926 million in 2019 to over $1 billion in 2023.
Tulane University: As of June 30, 2022, Tulane's endowment was $2.05 billion, a new high.
Xavier University of Louisiana (XULA): XULA's endowment is just over $170 million.
University of Louisiana at Lafayette: In 2021, the endowment for the University of Louisiana at Lafayette was $232 million.
Loyola University New Orleans: In 2017, the endowment for Loyola University New Orleans was $234.5 million.
Centenary College of Louisiana: As of the end of the 2022 fiscal year, Centenary College of Louisiana's endowment was valued at about $123 million.

Cannot vouch for validity of numbers.
