We may have to pay to get the right coach. We have a Big 12 facility with basketball history and tradition. Unfortunately, we play in the Sun Belt. Despite that, a few years ago when we had a long winning streak going, we had 8,000 - 9,000 in attendance. We have a starved fan base that can resurrect itself with the right hire. Don't go the cheap route. Hire the right coach to lead UL back to its prominent basketball status.
This is bigger than just a basketball coach.
The divide between P5 and G5 football will widen with NIL. Hopefully they P5s will break off and do their own thing.
Basketball will become the flag bearer within the next 10 years. It's just economics. G5 money is better spent with a few NCAA Tournament runs in March Madness as compared to G5 football.
The next coach may have to usher UL through NIL and basketball becoming the lead sport for us.
I posted this elsewhere, but theres a coaching candidate no one is talking about. And hear me out here.......Glenn Cyprien!
I mean....I'm sure he's had enough time to get that degree by now, right?
Just saying Brad may be a good guy to have on the staff. For a lot of reasons. What are we currently paying asst coaches here & how many assistants do we have? (I don't know. use to have season tickets, but haven't been to a game in a couple years)
Yeah he was so disconnected that the administration, who had tried to distance themselves from him, had to go to him to try and get people to the games. Even after all of the backstabbing done by Marlin and associates of the program he still shows up. He still advocates for the program more than any other former athlete at this university.
