You might be right but I've seen to many lopsided Super Bowls (where everthing is equal) for me to draw conlusions from a few dear in the headlight loses the first year of the playoffs.

The automatic byes lead to bad matchups.

The top 4 seeds should get bye weeks. Not the top 4 conference champions. The G5 champion should get to host, it would be way more intriguing than a bye week.
