Not defending Marlin, we gave up darn good seats this year. But there’s other issues to address after the coach is selected after the season ends. UL, if successful as we all hope, would need a consistent cycle of great hires…like Shipley, Hatfield and Bobby P. If Marty would have left at his peak, he’d be on that list.

Case in point, when asked by Fitzpatrick, Marlin's response to the dismal record was on how conference play hadn't started yet.

The new dean of SBC coaches, Keith Richard at ULM, hanging it up at the end of the season.

Probably given the same choice as Marlin but he didn't want to bail on team

People are going to try and pick apart what else the admin could do, but that's why I qualified with "main" choices.

Dave might come in and say, "Well, no one is attending baseball or football games," but my response to that is we'll likely see a good boost from the football reno (TBD), and baseball season ticket sales appear to be excellent. Dr. Maggard specifically said in the press conference MBB ticket sales were bad (paraphrasing), and even the people buying them weren't showing up. As long as people are buying tickets, getting people to actually come sit in their seats instead of watch on ESPN+, it's much more tenable than not selling tickets AND no one going to games.

14 years of making the regular season irrelevant took its toll.
