This is correct. But in all fairness, they took their medicine & didn't fight being put in select. However, the other public schools in Lafayette parish may want to reevaluate the "school of choice" policy considering they are at a distinctive disadvantage.

But arent most of the complainers about recruiting teams beating non recruiting teams already RPCA members, the new system was because of the complaints of the people who claim they dont want the new system, geaux figure

However, my favorite is certain select schools using the Catholic Church scholarships for athletes or having accounts that parents donate into in order to help certain athletes with tuition.
    A. Even with tuition on average most catholic schools cost less than public schools
    B. Dont some public school districts have a small apartment complex near the school right at the foot of a rich neighborhood. Those rich tax payers are "paying the account" for any athletes that happen to move in to those apartments.

All schools agree to be a part of the LHSAA and agree to the rules & appeals process but some still can't help themselves. University is the latest to try and screwed up many of the brackets.
Coaches and/or supporters of LCA & Opelousas have been caught "recruiting" athletes enrolled at other schools. Opelousas had multiple players who did not attend a feeder school, but the LHSAA could only prove one was ineligible. The LHSAA settled out of court, which included reinstating their state championship. These schools are feeling embolden & using the court system to get away with cheating.

If they are select, why is it illegal to select players?

Because it's against the by-laws they agree to follow.

Looks like Louisiana has roughly twice as many per 500

Nope. Kids went to LHS. In fact STM recruited via parents some of the females. An astute parent said sure if you can give the same quality education at the same cost as the GT program. They couldn’t.

Dirty little secret back then. The gifted students at Fatima were bussed to Woodvale for their GT courses. Which of course, made for a clean transition to LHS if they wanted.
