Local athletes that you know personally got passed over by UL. And you say without bias that they were better than the talent that was signed ahead of them. Come on man, you’re definitely taking this personal.
Southern Miss hasn't been to a Regional since 2004, Creighton since 2010.
In my opinion yes they were better than a few the Cajuns signed. Just my view. I have seen both of them play and have seen most of the kids that were signed play. I'm a pretty good judge of talent. It is what it is. Nothing personal as I have no fight in this. I just want to see the Cajuns win a Natty.
The team turned over virtually its entire roster from a year ago. Of course it’s not top 25 right now, and this year will be a massive challenge.
The next 2-3 years will likely be critical for UL softball, and it’s frustrating to read losing solid recruits for reasons like this. Not a lot of margin for error here.
This thread is really confusing. We are mad that UL didnt recruit softball players that signed with Southern Miss and Creighton? Or am I reading this wrong? (I’m being 100% serious, someone please explain the outrage)
Coach Habetz has recruited the fan base as well as anyone could expect.
Look at ticket sales
If she is going to keep Louisiana a perennial top-25 program she will have to demonstrate the same ability when it comes to recruiting great softball talent.
Having said that, if Habetz did in fact miss on these players CajunCrazy is accurate, all the other perennials (as well as the ones who are ranked less often) missed as well.
Having said that she should have a handle on local talent above and beyond the other perennials.
Time will tell.
Again, did UL “miss” on players that instead signed with mediocre programs?
I still don’t get what the issue is here.
Had these young ladies wanted to be Ragin Cajuns, and weren’t recruited by UL…and ended up at SEC programs (or some other perineal top 20 school), I would completely understand the point here.
But these players went to Southern Miss and Creighton for gods sake.
So I still don’t get what this is about.
One of these playwrs is a first team all state player and top 25 ranked position player in her class and you are telling me she wasn't good enough to play at UL? The same player that has struck out only one time in 338 varsoty at bats. These players also had other offers btw. Don't take my word for it. The current STM baseball and softball coaches both know these players are good enough to play at UL. One coached at UL and one has sent plenty of players to the next level. Once again it's not personal to me as I am not related to any of these players.
