Would recruits take him seriously? I know nothing about the man except what I have read here over the past decade or so, but, if I'm a serious recruit, I probably want someone with a collegiate record of success as either a head coach at a smaller school or an assistant at a bigger one.
Please understand that is no slam. I do not know the man, but I do think it is a legitimate question. And, the question is not whether he can relate better than the current head coach (that's a very low bar), but whether he is the best person we can get to relate and get a commit from a recruit .
You're right. Our basketball program is more like a high school program than a D1 one, evidenced by the fact the wife of the head coach gets on social media and is condescending towards fans.
Only at the high school or DIII level would that happen. Certainly not at the D1 level of a "proud" program.
