Did you miss the part where I said I'm serious. Anybody could do better than what they currently have on staff.

And, we're talking major college basketball for a school with a rich history.
This would be akin to Notre Dame hiring Gerry Foust. How did that turn out?
UL hired Mike Lotief and his wife and it worked out OK.

    Different sport, different era.

The era we are in isn't working out. ANYONE is better than what we have now. Larry Dierker came out of the radio broadcast booth to coach the Astros with zero coaching experience. It can be done.

Would recruits take him seriously? I know nothing about the man except what I have read here over the past decade or so, but, if I'm a serious recruit, I probably want someone with a collegiate record of success as either a head coach at a smaller school or an assistant at a bigger one.

While that may not be false, I still think we ought to do, y'know, a national search. If Boyd wants to apply, he is free to do so.

He would relate to recruits way better than what we have now. Recruiting is 1 area he would shine. He's been involved with the AAU circuit over the years and has some good relationships with coaches

I will let him answer those questions.

Please understand that is no slam. I do not know the man, but I do think it is a legitimate question. And, the question is not whether he can relate better than the current head coach (that's a very low bar), but whether he is the best person we can get to relate and get a commit from a recruit .

You're right. Our basketball program is more like a high school program than a D1 one, evidenced by the fact the wife of the head coach gets on social media and is condescending towards fans.

Only at the high school or DIII level would that happen. Certainly not at the D1 level of a "proud" program.

Man, I've heard about this, and I'm afraid to look for it. There is such a disconnect at the top of this program.

Like the national search that was done for UL football?
