While we had starters missing on the OL today, can we be honest, OL play has been inconsistent this season. Even if we had all of our starters, the outcome is still the same. We got beat in the trenches. Now the question is, is it a recruiting issue or is it a player development issue?

Probably some of both...UL needs to get some JC/Portal lineman, one being a center and a great LT. Don't really want to start from scratch next year.

I don't understand you folks. We have one of the youngest head coaches in the country. After two 6-7 seasons, he gave us our fourth 10-win season in our history. We're in the most talent-rich state in the nation, and he is bringing us up precisely as several other schools in the state, those against whom we have to compete for recruits, are struggling.

He's up against several things. First, he's a new head coach. Second, he's very young. Third, he has to establish his own culture in the program.

And fourth, and this one is the most important to me, and I hope to many of you, from everything I can see he's trying to do it right. He is trying to build a clean program that gives our players an education, and turns them into men.

No one gets it all.

No one gets most of it right away.

And above all of it, is the point I keep hammering on all the time. We want athletics, but unlike many of the schools against whom we compete, we don't have to have athletics. We are surging forward in academics. Athletics are a luxury.

And overall, considering our resources, I think we are doing damned well.

My expectation this year was 8 wins and I would be ok with that after two losing seasons at 6-7. We won 10, played for a conference championship and made a bowl. Although that was the most embarrassing loss in a while for our program in the bowl vs. TCU, I woke up ok with the season and where we are at as a program.

That being said: Expectation for next season is a 10 - 11 win season again, a conference championship win and/or a bowl game win. We cannot lose both of them again.
If not we are not moving forward.
