Shut down college football for one year is all it would take. What would they do then? Who's gonna pay them for their name image and likeness then? They don't have squat without the platform. If we're putting it in a "business" term. Close the business and they get nothing. Leverage.

Infrastucture is worth more than the interns, ask the patent court.

Clearly not, ask any division 1 football player.

If the NCAA was about amateurism, it never would have been commercialized. Want to fix things. Take all games off of TV. No sponsorships. Nothing. Then you get an entity that is closer to rec sports than the nfl.
Without the school, they have NOTHING! No team. No gym. No coaches. No training. No coaching. No free scholarship. No stadium to play in. No promotion for people to come and see them play. No infrastructure. No means to showcase themselves for an ACTUAL professional career. You can say "without the athletes they don't get that money" all you want. Without the school they get zero. They're welcome to graduate high school and pay to get coached, trained, etc while they wait until they're old enough to play in the PROS. And guess what....the school will continue just fine as an academic institutions and receive billions in research dollars. And guess what else? They aren't paying all these students doing the work in research for that university. So yeah, the school is receiving money for students studying.

That’s all well and good but doesn’t matter. The facts are that the system was broken long ago when players weren’t allowed to use their actual name image and likeness, which every other student was allowed to do. This outcome was always guaranteed to happen when college athletics became an arms race and things aren’t going back.

It can either be accepted or quit watching.

Thats because the Ncaa knew that athletes getting paid for NIL, was absolute bull____ that would be pay for play. And what do you know, NIL is just pay for play.

Why don’t the schools just get rid of sports then? We all
    Know why they won’t.

Anyone should be able to make money off their name, image and likeness. Should we have collectives paying players? I disagree with that but if a player wants to start a company and sell shirts or start a podcast, etc, they should be able to do those things.

Do they get paid extra for Name, Image, Likeness when there is actually a commercial, or are they limited to getting paid for signing and staying?

Let’s remove universities from the equation when it comes to NIL (Name, Image, and Likeness) deals. Instead, NIL contracts should be offered to athletes before they commit to a university, based solely on their earning potential. These contracts could be structured as four-year agreements with clear expectations and deliverables.

This approach allows athletes to choose their university freely while covering their own tuition—just like other students.

As an older student, this disparity doesn’t impact me as much. However, it’s disheartening to see students working minimum-wage jobs, scraping by on limited resources to pay for tuition, while some “student-athletes” already making millions have their tuition completely covered. In many ways, those funds are indirectly supported by the same struggling students. It’s a tough reality that feels deeply unfair to many hardworking individuals.
