Thread: Crow

    UL Football Crow

I ate a lot of crow this year with my preseason predictions. Des proved me wrong and I’m glad he did. He still has to continue to learn and adapt but with what I’ve seen this year, I think he will. Things he does frustrate me, Napier did the same, but winning is all that matters.

I refuse to be upset about last night. It wasn’t pretty at all and we got out coached, out played and flat out got bullied BUT it happens.

    On to the next one.

We are in good hands. Obviously, a win last night would have been one for the record books, but I have confidence Dez can get us back.

As I've stated before, I would love for Des to become our Bobby Bowden. Bowden took a no name state school and brought it to become a dominant player in college football. He stayed for 33 years.

Would love to see Des have the same dominance and tenure here.

Respectfully no. Bowden might have been successful but stayed WAY too long. Same thing happened at Troy with Blakney, Mac Brown multiple times, Beamer at Va Tech. Blind loyalty kills. 33 years, No. It is a business today, loyalty doesn’t equate to wins.

Look at Oklahoma State. Finally unloaded Gundy, WITH CAUSE, after 20 years and a winless conference season. The article I read stated the way they fired Gundy is the legal way around the payout, didn’t catch details.

And NO I don’t hate Des. I wish him the best, means Cajuns win. But I’m not blind, G5 coaches don’t last.

Well, I have a different wish list from you. If Des is here for the next 20+ years and winning that is, not Marlin style winning, but real quality seasons, where the Cajuns are ranked in the top 20 on a constant basis and possibly playing in the college playoffs, well, that is my wish list.

Wish list includes bringing the crowds back to Cajun field, which I honestly believe he could do if he keeps this style of football up. This year was exciting to watch most of the time. Yes, he needs to improve his offensive and defensive lines, but overall this was a fun year to be a Cajun fan.

Think about this, the first year of a college playoff system and the Cajuns were actually mentioned in the talks on a national basis. Yes, only like a 5% chance to make it, but they were mentioned. And until a true playoff system is created where every D1 team has an equal chance to make it, this playoff system is bull dootie. There are 9 conferences (4-P5 and 5-G5). Take the 9 conference winners plut 7 at large based on whatever ranking system you want to use. Then you have a true playoff system and not a subjective system, which is what they have had since the beginning of time. Get rid of the Bowl games because they mean nothing. A large percentage of your players don't even play in the bowl games now for whatever reason (not injury related). They either hit the transfer portal immediately after the season ends, don't want to play because of entering the draft....or whatever reason they have.

Des did a great job this year and the future truly looks bright.

Well, 20 years from now, I should have passed thru an earthworm or two by then…lol.

Hope our AD looks at the Gundy situation. They were restructuring, Gundy hesitated, got canned. Don’t know finer details.

Loyalty is a mostly dead virtue in college sports.

You and me both probably, but if I do have at least 20 years left on this side of the earth, then I can still dream of what could be...

They just simply weren’t ready to play last night. Got their @$$ kicked in the trenches all night.

Read it last night. It was very clear he was gone. What changed?
