Thread: If History is an Indicator...

  1. #1

Default If History is an Indicator...

...and it is certainly not a perfect indicator, but:

The host team has won every SBC football championship, by at least a touchdown. If the weather eases up, and the cold doesn't keep the crowd away, this could be a very entertaining evening.

(And BTW, I asked it in another thread: Is this our first Saturday night prime-time game on a major sports network? Our other 3 championship games were in the afternoon. Anyone know if we've ever had the prime slot before?)

    Home team is listed first.

    2018 App State 30 UL 19
    2019 App State 45 UL 38
    2020 - cancelled -
    2021 UL 24 App State 16
    2022 Troy 45 Coastal 26
    2023 Troy 49 App State 23

That trend should have ended in 2020. COVID Chickens, and the Sun Belt Commissioner didn’t offer any help.

Anyone actually have a theory on why that happened?

The Covid Chickens were undefeated I believe, and the conference didn't want to risk them losing before their bowl game. But they lost the bowl game. Karma!

Coastal was hoping Cincinnati would loose, that would put them a NY6 at the time, benefiting the SBC of course...CC Logic says they aren't going to risk a L, so they dodged the game...

I will always believe the SBC was in on that scheme.

Follow the money. Was a chance at a big payoff.

Part of the story at that time was also that the coach got a humongous bonus (I read as high as $1M) if he went undefeated in the regular season.

So some think he came down with affluenza...
