Look, we just didn't have any fire. I think Marshall was out there to prove a point and came out of the gate swinging. We never matched their energy. Sometimes individuals just have bad games. Sometimes the team as a whole just has a bad game. Am I upset about it? You bet. We've had w games, I feel, that we just went out and s___ the bed. Marshall and South Al. I predicted at the beginning of the season that we'd have double digit wins. Overall, I feel like this season was a success. Des has shown improvement and I think He only gets better from here. Next season could be his most challenging yet. I think depending on if we can shore up the line through the portal will determine that. And I dont think anyone can really argue that the staff has done a pretty good job of bringing in, and more importantly, develop, incoming talent. I know I come off as insufferable here, and drone on ad nauseum on things sometimes. (I can already hear some of you, "SOMETIMES?!") but I'm a huge fan, and I'm a realist. Some people don't want to hear it. I get it. I hope nobody takes any of my rantings personally. I love all you guys. And since Vic is on "vacation" I'll say, nobody aggravated me more than him. But I kept inviting him over to visit and he finally did. And you know what? He's a pretty good dude in real life.....still annoying on here, but a good dude.LoL. And I extend the same invite to each and every one of you. Would love to finally meet a bunch of you at some point. This is my sappy Christmas post. At the end of the day, we won 10 games and that's awesome! I think our future is bright, despite our frustration with our admin. But there are a dedicated group of guys that are beginning to take it upon ourselves to make things better. If we all work together and pull the rope in the same direction, we can accomplish some great things. In the meantime.....all your opinions are wrong, and mine are bold, insightful and true! LoL! The QB didn't matter in THIS game. Nobody is talking about the rest of the season in any other individual game. You know exactly what I'm saying. Not sure why you're trying to move the goal post.

So let me get this straight. You think if Fields doesn't get hurt, we win that game? You don't think it was the fact we got dominated at the LOS on both sides, couldn't tackle, etc etc. That the biggest reason was losing Fields????

Why can’t you see that a senior, experienced QB will see a different defensive approach than a true freshman? Yes, the fact that in 10/12 games we were able to figure out how to beat teams with the two seniors and the two losses were down to a few plays tells me we likely win that game with one of the seniors playing. Especially BW.

I just don’t understand why you are so dead set against seeing the obvious. The biggest, not the only, but the biggest reason we lost that game as because we lost our QB and had to play an inexperienced freshman. Its just an obvious fact.

Well Charlie, your answer sucked & wasn't factual at all. All it did was continue to propagate the fact that losing without effort is acceptable without question. And the only way to be a good fan is to accept that without question. IF that is the bar you have for being a UL fan, then you are right when you say I'm a terrible fan. I'll always be a terrible fan if i expect my team to show up whether I do, or not. But I didn't show up because I didn't want to support my team. I didn't show up because I didn't want to be surrounded by 6000 people like you. Merry Christmas Charlie.

Try to understand that a 6th year senior QB and good offensive play caller can figure out a way to move the ball through the air causing the defense to take players out of the box opening up the running game. The offense was constantly blocking more players than they used to block said players. Once the freshman entered the game Marshall had no reason to respect the pass game and kept 7-8 in the box and kept walking up a safety.

7 year senior who does as much video study, if not more than some of the staff. Huge difference compared to a true freshman who didn't even practice as the starter the week before.

Finally got around to watching the replay of the game. Points that could add to this thread or at least open up another can.

1. Marshalls center and guards did a great job of holding(never called) on runs up the middle. They hold just long enough that our D line can’t wrap up the runner.
2. The first blind side block on LL2 was questionable.(1st play of the game)
3. Roughing the passer on Bayliss on Marshall’s 2nd drive was complete BS. Didn’t touch his head or neck area.
4. 3rd and long for Marshall on same drive Braxton scrambles for a first down. Lawson was obviously held right in front of the QB.
5. Marshalls 2nd TD rb run to the right. Holding against KC Osai and Kmart in the endzone.
6. Marshalls first drive of second half 3rd and medium around midfield. Braxton scrambles and narcisse is held( he managed to get 1 hand on Braxton while held. Braxton would break 5 tackles, get to 4th and 1 which they converted.
7. Same drive. TD pass receiver obviously pushed off. The whole crowd saw it live. Camera didn’t pan there in time. Kmart got an unsportsmanlike penalty after the play.(actually after the extra point they show a great view of the push off)

Flip side
1.Carter missed a lot of blocks. But I will say in the second half he seemed to be blocking with a lot of effort.
2.Harrington was constantly pushed into the backfield
3.Davis kept trying to jump to the outside when the run was called up the middle mostly for losses
4.Tackling in the open field was terrible.
5. Beales int before the half was a bad throw but I also hate that play to Bernard. He’s not a 50/50 ball guy.
6. We might want to look for a punter in the portal.
7. We got a break on the kick catch interference when Bernard muffed the punt.
8. Cajuns drive that started in the 3rd into the 4th lasted 7.5-8 minutes. Really wish we could have scored there for Beales confidence.
9. Last TD for Marshall our Defense looked gassed. 71 yards all on the ground.Marshall had 222 total rushing. Defense actually did a good job against the run in the 2nd half till that drive.
10. I counted 10 high passes by Beale. 2 of which were caught but no chance for YAC. He had 3 in a row on our last 3 plays of the game.

Ok, BWK that’s should be plenty of answers to your original question. And I know some will respond with the “quit making excuses reply” when I mention non calls. Have at it.

Hahaha. I always do. As a Cajun fan I enjoy the wins again, and try to find bright spots in losses. It’s usually never as good and bad as it is live.
