We ended up punting from the goal line b/c of that! The return was wiped out, significant yardage was lost, on third down we got an offensive pi call but the call was behind the line of scrimmage (so it wasn't pi) but we lost a down and forced to punt from the goal line! Marshall's return man was at the 50! Two or three plays later, EZ. Add 6.
Has anyone come up with a sensible reason why UL just rolled over & crapped the bed last night? I mean it was for the conference championship. Did these guys just decide to mail it in for the semester? Will the real UL football team show up for it's bowl game? Did they just decide they wanted the 2nd place bowl over the 1st? Did someone really close to the program die? I just don't understand how any group of prideful players could play with such little effort all at once. Were they on strike? I'm seriously not trying to be funny. It was very sad & extremely unexpected to see this. It was for me anyway. I mean how do you let a conference foe come into your house & just beat your rear end like they caught you behind the bushes with their girlfriend?
It's a head scratcher!
My thoughts, this is their 13th game, I believe they are burnt out. Just plain ole exhausted from practicing hard, playing hard, long days from resting up.
Could weather plated a role in it??????
Play calling sucked.
All I want to say is, LET THESE GUYS REST UP TO SEE IF THAT HELPS.
You certainly don’t need 2 weeks of physical workouts to play a team. Be rested, play like you have all season, control your emotions, reduce the costly penalties, and be smart.
As for Marshall, they are good and they played on PURE ADRENALINE. with the come back win against JMU, they were ready.
Let’s hope they are a rested, ready team to play TCU
GEAUX CAJUNS
While we didn't look good on offense to start the game, losing Fields when it was only 10-3 and having to then play the game with a 18/19 year old true freshman who had only thrown 2 passes all season didn't exactly make things easy.
no mystery here at. all....freshman QB he'll tare
it up next year.....
I thought it was 7-3
I seem to remember "take the points (3) on 4th down so it is 7-6 and the freshmen doesn't start off a bundle of nerves thinking he has to save the day on 4th and two.
Start him off on a fresh set of downs. Easier on the nerves,
I may be misremembering.
