It’s you suggesting the QB doesn’t matter, not me.

I think if Fields plays the game is much closer and we have a legit chance to win.

I think if BW was healthy and playing we win.

I’m basing that off of being 10-2 with those two guys. And the basic football knowledge that having to play an unused true freshman at QB instead of a proven senior is a huge mountain to overcome.

Beale was not the problem. Chandler getting injured was the problem. Cajuns have had a lot of slow starts this season then made adjustments. I wasn’t worried about starting slow or looking bad early. Once chandler went out Marshall completely stopped worrying about getting beat in the pass game. They loaded the box to stop the run.

Marshall moved the LOS on both sides of the ball the entire game. I don’t know if chandler stays healthy and we find success in the passing game would Marshall have backed off some to open up the run game. We will never know.

What I do know is the true freshman having to come in because of the loss of the 6th year senior QB is the biggest reason we lost the game.

Taking longer to to read the field is common with freshmen..

The same offensive line that gives an experienced quarterback plenty of time looks like a seive for an inexperienced freshman QB.

Was it because he had so much time as an experienced QB that he got tired and laid down to take a nap until someone got open? Or was it because our O line was a sieve and he didn't have time either? I swear, it's like yall believe Fields was just ripping and running and shredding Marshall up with the passing game. From start to finish. Whistle to whistle. Marshall dominated us at the line of scrimmage. We got mauled. We had zero life, where Marshall was out there throwing hay makers for 60 mins. We were completely exposed. We couldn't tackle. But yeah, Chandler Fields was going to elevate the entire team..... at some point ....not sure when he was gonna do that. Certainly up to the point he got hurt, we were still being dominated. All these searches for excuses of how things could have been. Fields or Ben wasn't gonna put that team on their back and carry it. Let's stop that delusion. No disrespect to those guys, love them as players and people, but neither CF nor BW are world beaters. If they were, they would've already hit the portal taken NIL money from a bigger school/opportunity. Some people may not want to hear that truth, but it is what it is. Yall can make believe all these scenarios where "if this, then that" all you want. Fields ain't winning that game either. All the it's in the world ain't changing that outcome. Unless you're in the ride, or die clique, you have no right to state your opinion, or ask questions about how the team is going to deal with its issues. This one post is going to completely derail this thread & try to make it about "crappy pseudo fans" when this school & its own fan base has been its own worst enemy for decades now.

It’s as if you’ve never seen a football game, which I know is not true. I can only assume you have some other reason to ignore the obvious tremendous affect losing an experienced QB has on winning a game against a good team.

Suffice to say we will never agree on this. I can only revert back to the fact we were 10-2 with the two seniors, and the two losses could have gone either way. Then we get blown out with the true freshman. But, it seems to help you to rant and rave so….proceed sir.

That was one play that ended up defining the game.

The reality was Chandler was driving for Louisiana's second score to Marshall's one.

Chandler had a guaranteed 7-6 scoreboard waiting for him.

What transpired after the unfortunate landing bears no resemblance to what Chandler was putting on the field.

An authoritive unhurt Chandler would have picked up the 4th and 2 and subsequently put Louisiana up 10-7.

Marshall could only hope to stall not stop Louisiana consistently.

Well there are a lot of random individuals on here who use the same old BS tactics to attack anyone they perceive as not worthy of being in their little church group. You get enough of those individuals together into a choir of divisiveness & all you ever end up with your own little church on the corner which never grows & always has the same 15 members they had 40 years ago. So it is with Cajundom. I asked a question about what could have caused this team to puke out a miserable effort like they did in such a big situation for them. I still haven't gotten any kind of an answer which any reasonable fan, or supporter who cares should want to know. Now I'm getting the SOS treatment that I'm a horrible fan & that's why the team lost. Or I'm a horrible fan & therefore have no right to know why the team stank it up. in the conference championship.

I always hear we don't want to be these guys, or those guys mostly in vitriolic jealous terms. Don't worry UL fan. With the attitude of this inner sanctum You DON"T ever ever have to worry about becoming an LSU, a Boise State, or any other consistently successful program.
