I expected the rest of the team to step up and help him, but they did not. Both OL and DL got their asses whipped all night. Your QB puts it on the line and get injured doing so, at least you can rally around the new guy and not feed him to the wolves.

Where would that experience have come? We won one game comfortably when he was the backup, and he got to play in that game.

I agree with Turbine, there are opportunities to make specific plays to get a new QB some experience and especially if you already know that next year, he is going to be someone you need to be ready. It doesn't have to be a whole drive or Quarter. Just give him some increasing tasks to perform and allow him to review on game film.
