Yes, I've heard comments from Des over and over again on the radio. I also saw Brandon Domingue being interviewed on KATC this morning. Every player and coach is constantly posting on social media about the game. There's also billboards around town promoting the game. If you're not seeing any promotion, I don't know where you're looking.
I agree with Coach Chris. The University is doing their part. Now it is up to the state of Louisiana to show up to the championship game in Lafayette, LA.
Looks like spending 60 million dollars on this stadium up grade is a big mistake.
They should just terrace the East side and put hammock posts, permanent shade structures, and just let that area be a in-stadium tailgate area because we DEFINITELY don't need 30k seats.
SHOCKED if we get more that 20K - Angry, disappointed, and disgusted - but still shocked!
Safe to assume that the companies that buy season tickets that go toward normal "counted attendance" are not buying tickets for this game?
Talked to a few people that normally get tickets from their student children for $10, but sounds like those aren't available and they're "not paying $20-30 for a UL game"
In all fairness, we did have 31k for the 2021 Championship. Biggest crowd for that game by a lot. I get it, though. The upgrade was necessary and the decrease in capacity was more than necessary.
Not sure why we expanded to over 40 when we were averaging 29 k at our best during the Hud years. We had sporadic Southern and McNeese games that had 38 to 40+, but you don't build for a game every decade or so.
We've got a Championship to win tomorrow. Good crowd or not.
