Thread: Huff to USM

Marshall may get hoisted on their own petard. They did not extend Doc Holliday's contract after a 4-year run of 8-5, 9-4, 8-5, and 7-3 (65%) with 4 straight bowl appearances. Instead, they hired Huff.

Huff went 7-6, 9-4, 6-7, and 9-3, with 3 straight bowls (4 if you include this year); that's right at 60% of his games.

Only half of all coaches have winning seasons in any given year. Even fewer average over 60%. When you get rid of one who is winning at that percentage, the odds of getting a better one are not in your favor.

When you get rid of two of them in a row, it's like standing in a thunderstorm and double-dog daring the lightning to strike you down.

To top it off, while you are confidently betting on a better coach, better coaches are less likely to bet their careers on you. This ain't 'Bama we're talking about.

    This is Marshall.

Yeah, well that 2021 team was LOADED with talent. I could have coached them to a bowl win vs Marshall
