As much as I'd like to see it happen, 2 losses coupled with weaker SOS relative to others leaves us out of CFP mix. Of course it ain't over til its over.
Host/winning the conference championship, getting ranked, & winning bowl game will stand out as super successful season. There remains a lot to be pleased about this season's progress outperforming expectations.
Tulane is currently ranked 20 in the CFP and could very well be ranked 17 or 18 this week. Unless they lose to Memphis by a big margin, I don't see them dropping out of the top 25 CFP, and, if they win the championship, will certainly be ranked. Louisiana almost certainly will not be ranked even if they win the next two convincingly, and, even if they are, will be below Tulane in this scenario.
Tulane also has a considerably higher SOS than does the Cajuns and beat Louisiana head to head. I still believe that, barring a blowout by Memphis, even if Tulane does lose to Memphis but beats Army in the CCG, they will be ranked and we won't.
That's my opinion, which, as my wife is fond of reminding me, ain't worth the price of a cup of coffee.
