I guess I should clarify what I was trying to say. I read often on this board that Marlin is an awful in-game coach.
Yesterday was a game where one team’s players were better than the others, and Coach K, Bob Knight or whoever wasn’t flipping that result once UAB decided to guard/rebound.
As far as direction, I think UL (and most mid-majors) have to rethink how to build a championship team in this NIL world. That’s all.
I’m sorry if I gave a perception I’m more of an expert than any of you. I’m not.
Main point is I like to get on this board to get an idea of what is truly happening in UL sports. Don’t get much Cajuns here near Cincinnati.
When it comes to basketball, just gets old to read “fire Marlin” every game chat. I understand why it’s gotten there.
Have a good day everyone.
To the point of Bob as an in-game coach, keep in mind: we have been outscored in the 2H in every D1 game this season. Did all 6 teams just to decide to wake up at half? I don’t think so.
To the point of talent, when you ask why talent is at this dismal level in year 15 of Bob’s tenure, the reasons you will be given are injuries and transfers. The big losses in those regards were Hosanna, Julien, and Charles. Guess what? All 3 were here last year, and we still underperformed. 5th place finish in the Belt and a 27 point thrashing from the 4th place team in the Quarterfinals of the tournament.
I hate when the coach has to play with players somebody else recruited. Oh, wait.
How about we all show up to the next home game and boo marlin and let him know how we feel?
