Over the last 2 years, really. We let leads slip away against ULM, Rice, Houston, Troy to name a few. This year, we’ve been very good playing with the lead. Also, not letting other team’s leads get out of hand. Every lead that our opponent has had against us that was 7 points or less, we’ve overcome. Our issue is playing catchup down multiple scores. As it is with most every team.
To the playing with the lead point. There are several examples of great individual plays that propelled us to wins this year. Carter with the long catch vs. Coastal. Williams kick return last night. Late game ints/turnovers vs. App and USM. We had been missing that in close games.
I, as not a fan of the 6-6 record and the excuse fandom, this was a s or get off the pot year for me. 7 wasn’t going to cut it. 7 should be the standard baseline.
I’m very pleased. Now is time to finish the job.
But it will take every second of the 60 minutes to win next week. ULM cleared out not only the staff but 70+ players. They got an AD with a pulse. The FB coach is a young proven winner, not some retread ULM could buy with supplementing his income from being bought out from his prior disaster.
No business or excuse losing to Monroe. Finish and do NOT take the boot off the throat. Hud and company did that years back in Lafayette, jumped out 14 zip and got lazy.
Finish!
If we win....do we host?
Nice atmosphere last night.
Even better win. Let's close out strong Cajuns!
Depends. No head to head with JMU or GATA. Other criteria used. Win and let it sort out.
Lose, it might not even be a topic depending on stAte and USA.

I’ve followed them a bit this year. They have a great freshman back. He’ll be a problem. But aside from that, their offense is bad. Next to last in the conference in scoring. They struggle a ton throwing the ball with any success. Yeah, it’s in Monroe. They have a bowl game on the line, but the Troy team we saw last night was a lot more of a concern than the Hoax. I think we cruise.
