NEW ORLEANS (AP) - The Sun Belt Conference has agreed to a tie-in to the Little Caesars Pizza Bowl in Detroit.
Conference officials say the secondary tie-in means a Sun Belt team would play in the bowl if the Big Ten conference is unable to provide a bowl-eligible team.
The agreement starts next season and runs through 2013.
Sun Belt teams have twice before competed in what was formerly known as the Motor City Bowl. Middle Tennessee lost to Central Michigan in 2006 and Florida Atlantic beat Central Michigan in 2008.
