I think you have a point with “nothing free” Turbine. At least a piece of the dip we have seen in attendance since the Hud era is that UL finally started charging for things that were previously free, and the community was used to UL being an almost free to play experience. Now I definitely think we have our current products overvalued, especially tailgating and inside CF gates parking, and we need to have a correction to this pricing based on demand.
To me, the easiest way to address the idea of bringing in high schoolers would be an extension of the Young Ragin Cajun Club age limit to 18 (currently goes to 12). Pending something like this not crossing any NCAA lines. It’s well established that we can’t take the position of “everyone else is doing something outside the lines.” Even if that is true, enforcement is not equal across the board.
Obviously, the big drawback to the way I’ve proposed it is you aren’t making much money short term. At least with the current YRCC (younger kids), the kids get in to all events for $45 per year, but kids that age will come with a parent (full price paying customers). With high schoolers, many more can go on their own and leave the full paying customers at home. At some point though, we have got to make an investment in the future of our fanbase. Games at CF and the CD resemble this website (mainly over 45 crowd). Those folks are amazing, but they can’t prop up the program forever.
