Two brothers are behind bars in connection with the shooting death of a New Iberia business owner. 20-year old Dante Lewis and 19-year old Dominique Lewis turned themselves over to the Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office Tuesday night.

Both are charged with armed robbery of the D&K Foodmart on March 16. Dante is also charged with first degree murder. The suspect's family is outraged over the arrests, while the victim's fiancee is relieved.

Wednesday, a sign on the door at D&K Foodmart said the store was closed. It will remain closed indefinitely. Co-owner Kay Dang feels safer knowing two people are in jail.

The small grocery store on the corner of Ann Street and 20 Arpent Road was the future of Danny Ha and He "kay" Dang. The two opened it in May of 2009, eleven months later a shadow is cast over the place. "I really don't know what to do without Danny," said Dang.

Dang can't understand why one of two masked men shot the love of her life multiple times. "I'm very mad, I'm angry. Angry that I lost somebody that I loved so much," said Dang.

While Dang makes funeral plans, just a block and a half away on School Street, a New Iberia mother makes plans to save her two son's lives. Cindy Lewis had to be hospitalized after an anxiety attack following three searches of her home Tuesday night and the subsequent arrests of her sons.

The brothers are held on a half-million dollars bond each for the armed robbery charge. Dante has an additional 500-thousand dollar bond for the charge of first degree murder.
"That's my kids. They playing with my children's life," said Lewis. She can't believe her boys would be capable of cold blooded murder, especially Dominique, who was on parole and new father of a four month old boy. "They never done it, they say put it on my momma's grave, they never done it," said Lewis.

Danny's fiancee is convinced the detectives got the right guys. She says she remembers their eyes from the March 16th robbery and it was the same eyes from behind a ski mask again on Monday night.

Danny's funeral is planned for this weekend in Lafayette. His fiancee plans to send his body back to his native country of Vietnam for burial. An account has been set up at Midsouth Bank under He Dang's name if you want to donate.
