We are excited to announce the 2024 Lou Groza Award winner, Kenneth Almendares, as our kicker this season!
Almendares played his entire career at the University of Louisiana where he hit 67 field goals and 144 extra points over five seasons, and was a 2x 1st Team All-Sun Belt Conference selection.
In his Groza Award winning season, he led the nation in field goals made, connecting on 28-of-31 field with a long of 53 yards, and was good on 46-of-47 extra points. He was a Consensus 1st Team All-American and was named the Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week on five different occasions.
Almendares spent time with the San Francisco 49ers in 2025, and will surely have eyes on him this summer from all top-tier professional leagues.
Help up welcome Kenneth to the Toros!
Toros press release
San Antonio franchise of the CoFL.
Happy for Kenneth, but does anyone believe that this league is sustainable?
You mean Kenny couldn't get a job in the NFL?
As long as it stays a spring league it should be fine.
Fr bro, I'm surprised nobody in the league wanted him, especially considering he was literally a Lou Groza Award winner. Regardless, I wish him the best. You never know, he could end up doing good in this league and could potentially make a name for himself maybe as a coach. After all, Stevie Artigue played multiple seasons in the IFL, and now he has his own kicking camp every year.
