Thread: Football early NSD is Dec 20

UL Football Football early NSD is Dec 20

With national signing day only ~5 weeks away. Any one else curious to see how this year's on field success parlays to NSD success?

Have we had any recent new HS or any JC commitments at all? I don't recall any. Maybe it's me....It seems since portal era began, FBS JC recruitment overall has been down....way down.

We currently have one of our largest senior classes in years. The covid extra year is finally at it's end......logical to assume we will have room to sign 20+ on Dec 20?.

Too soon for specifics on portal talk but overall Des did exceptionally well in portal in vs out. Our 2 deep on defense was the primary benefactor. Do we go portal to replace some of the Seniors on D or OL?

We will use the portal. It’s going to be a necessity in order to have a balanced roster.

This class should be a good one. As long as we continue to sign talented OL/DL we will keep winning.

I wouldn’t be surprised if a QB was a priority in the portal. I loved Beadle in HS, and think he will be really good. Just not sure you can go into the season with just him & lunch.

Disagree about recruiting being down. I think Dez has recruited well.

Jamie Howard exhausted his eligibility at the Auburn game 25 or so years ago . . .

I personally believe Lunch should fill LL2’s role. He is a dynamic player than needs to see the field. In HS he was the best player on the field, on offense and when he played defense.

It should be Beale’s job going into the spring, bring in a xfer or high school signee.

I believe he was talking about FBS recruiting as a whole. I may have missed understood.

I agree, Dez has done extremely well in recruiting.

……the future QB spot will be a battle with Beale and Lunch from January through the first game…also a commitment from a Mississippi QB per Des!

How much of this is true and if it actually happens I don't know but this is what I was told. A relative of mine has a business colleague in Mississippi that is close to the Ole Miss program. The business colleague was told by an Ole Miss football staff member that Walker Howard is done at Ole Miss and will be entering the transfer portal and transfer to UL. The business colleague of my relative, who I don't know, stated that the Ole Miss football staff member is a very reliable source. We will see what transpires but I thought that I would share this tidbit of information as I know JMV has already broached this subject previously but I don't think he ever came right out and stated that it was Walker Howard although most came to that conclusion. Time will tell, we could be getting a previously highly recruited QB or my information could turn out to be incorrect. Oh well, let's continue to enjoy this great season.

I have heard the same now from a few different people. Won’t get into specifics as to why he is leaving since it’s purely speculation but I would not be surprised if he ends up back in Lafayette next year. The more competition the better and I think that will only push Beale harder. I think he will be the guy to beat going into 25 whether Walker transfers here or not.
