The 11 million figure being used by the PAC is what the new ACC members are getting paid by the ACC for partial shares for the next 7 years. Thats when everything gets reshuffled again.
The ultimate sports fantasy site.
PAC is wishing, no takers. Greed rides a blind horse.
Just spit balling. . . Let's say there's a PAC invite if we want it. Can't see us going out west alone. Who goes with us from the south since the PAC and MWC seem to have run out of decent candidates to poach out west? Will be more attractive if at least four move together. But will it be more attractive to TV networks. . . I have no idea. The AAC exit fees are pretty stiff so study potential SBC West schools. Candidates: TX St, who seriously wants to surpass UTSA? Its shocking how far So. Miss football has fallen since 2012. And still uncompetitive in SBC. Maybe this is their moonshot back to football relevance? Same goes for Arkansas St. A four PAC deal of Louisiana, TX St., Ark St., and So. Miss to PAC makes for a central time zone TV window games and regional travel pod. Have read the new PAC hasn't announced which Olympic sports it will sponsor, but to save travel expense if possible only basketball, baseball, softball, T & F compete in the PAC. Park others like tennis, golf, volleyball in a southern regional conference that will take them in. Boom! The PAC 12 consists of 12 members again, the #1 overall G6 conference.
Yeah, well the great equalizer in basketball is Bob __'in Marlin. I dont care how much money they throw at the program. He's coaching against teams with the same budget. If yall think the loss to Houston was bad.....wait until we step on the court with a team like Gonzaga. Besides, that TV deal sucks. Not a chance I'd jump on that ship. Unstable, and teams aren't exactly running to join. Too much shake-up left in realignment to marry yourself to a situation like that. Thanks, but no thanks.
Good questions. Does joining the new PAC whatever get our program closer to the P5 dream? The obvious answer is no, and $7M is not worth the move if new members would not even get a full share the first 3 years. But we've had this discussion already. There is no real number at this point for a conference media package and it's not clear if new members would have to accept a lower share the first 3 years.
