LSU’s engineering program is going to drill a core sample well underneath campus to examine if campus subsurface would be ideal for CCSU. Don’t believe they’ll do any actual injection, but it’s just to provide mostly training for students. Supported by a DOE grant and industry (Halliburton and Exxon).

I don’t see a Trump Administration completely gutting the IRA and yanking the full rug of tax credits out from under industry when some oil & gas companies have already spent tens to hundreds of millions already. But…if he can lax some of the EPA requirements that have triggered this stuff, then there won’t be as many “emitters” in the market willing to pay companies to take and store their CO2.

There is a couple who sit next to me for baseball and support and have season tickets for multiple Louisiana athletics who resided for years and did research at a university in south Florida who have moved back to Lafayette for the husband to head up a project associated with alternate energy. The husband is an Electrical Engineer and I believe the wife is a Chemical Engineer both Louisiana degrees. Both very interesting individuals.

The effort for solar has to do with a couple of alumni pouring big money into the endevor.
First Solar's Chief Commercial Officer, Georges Antoun and his wife are UL graduates. That is the new billion dollar plant being built right now in New Iberia.

Unfortunately it doesn't appear it will help much with local employment. Hiring seems to be going to outsiders with experience in automotive or aerospace. Not surprising I guess with much of their operation in the midwest. I'm sure some lower level jobs will be local but leadership positions will be filled from outside of the area to a large degree it appears.

We’ve concreted both banks of the Miss River with the most fertile farm land in Louisiana. It’s provided jobs that put me through school but we’ve paid a price for it. In the B late forties and early 50s the river road was a sea of green. Now mostly stacks and runoff. And jobs.
At least solar farms don’t add to flooding.

I know that land use has been made an issue but in reality is a none issue. There are a lot more legitimate concerns in front of that. I have zero issue with solar and my background is oil & gas. I believe it makes a lot of sense in the right scenario. Just need to put everything out there for proper evaluation and implementation.
