It’s kind of like this:
https://1033thegoat.com/ragin-cajuns...me-attendance/
I know this is based upon ticket sales but anyone who regularly attends baseball games knows that butts in the seats is more like 2500 a third of the time, 2000 half the time and about 1500 1/6th the time depending upon opponent, day, weather, conflicting events, etc, except when we play LSU then is close to capacity . . .
Until last year, the row in 108 I sit in has my 4 and 2 on the other end who attend regularly and the rest who virtually never come. Last year the engineering couple who moved back to Lafayette have some of the other tickets in my row and made many of the games unless there was another sport with a conflict and sometimes they even made partial games to both sports with conflicts.
It’s all about tickets sold. Measuring yourself by a stricter metric (butts in seats) when no one else in the country is doing so is nonsensical. I could see keeping a count internally to get an accurate account for planning purposes but releasing those numbers would be foolish. See what we did at the beginning of last baseball season. Sure there aren’t actually 4,000 people at most of our games. There also aren’t 9,000 people at LSU midweeks. It’s a nonissue.
What is an issue is the lack of ticket sales. This past Saturday we as well as Tech held our homecoming games. We outsold Tech (who is in the midst of their 4th straight losing season and who hasn’t had a winning season since 2019) by a whopping 106 tickets. We are in 1st place in the Belt and 3rd to last in average attendance this season.
I'm more making fun of Monrovian and their inabilities to do simple things. Yeah we have our issues too but Northeast La. is another level. Their basketball arena had half of the N either dirty or broken making it look like Fart-Ewing at night. I kid you not. But I wouldn't expect them to fix it when you look at their football stadium and they have leftover construction/auxiliary buildings wedged between upper and lower decks and they sell those as "luxury" suites.
