The KATC Futurecast yesterday was right on the money predicting scattered showers and storms initiating today with the daytime heating. You may have noticed the increased heat and humidity today helping to trigger the activity this afternoon A small surge of tropical moisture and a weak upper disTurbinece aloft all have allowed for a nice northwestward migrating sea-breeze front this afternoon. Activity was heavy enough to produce some small hail in and around the Milton area and along the Lafayette/Vermilion Parish border. Activity will continue to move to the northwest with more tropical sun late this afternoon. Rain chances should go back down tomorrow. More on Acadiana's NewsChannel at 5pm.
First day of the nearly summer season with pop-up showers and a few thunderstorms this afternoon. Rain chances up to 30% but higher along the Lafayette/Vermilion Parish line! Mostly sunny later this afternoon with highs in the lower 80s.
