BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - Louisiana is receiving $81.4 million in
emergency federal funding to fix highway damage from hurricanes
Katrina, Rita, Gustav and Ike.
The state Department of Transportation and Development says
$74.5 million will go to fix damage from Katrina and Rita. The
other $7 million is being allocated to repair road damage from
Gustav and Ike.
State officials say the money will not complete all of the
projects, but will allow repairs to continue without interruption.
The highway department says it expects to receive more federal
money next year to complete repairs to highways across southern
Louisiana and to streets in Jefferson and Orleans parishes.
