It's genuinely crazy that Marlin is still the coach here. From people I know that went to the game, say there's no way there were 1400 people there. Won't be surprised if 1400 actual fans may be the high watermark for attendance this year. Wouldn't be surprised if we see 500 people in the dome for games.

If I was AD of small school with a proud basketball tradition, and the admin asked me to find a way to dwindle fan support down to the point where we could just shutter basketball completely, I would do exactly what we're doing right now.

I watched the game on ESPN + and heard that he is only about 8-9 wins away from 500. My guess is Marlin is hanging around for that 500th + win and our AD is giving him that allowance given his tenure at UL.

There are no basketball fans left except Boot.
There is no longer a basketball tradition here. That was taken from us by Bob staying here so long. It is done. We are a baseball, softball, and football school now.

Theres no interest in the opening game of the season on our own fan message board . . . So just imagine what it is in the general public. I'd bet most people here on a fan page didn't even know there was a game. Not that anybody would go, but still. Sad.

I dont think the AD put that much thought into keeping Marlin around. It is more inertia - plain and simple
