Excuse the ignorance of an out-of-towner, but what did she do?
This is a local free magazine about things that go on in Lafayette, they put out 1 edition every 2 months. For the November issue she is the Student Athlete spotlight. Riley is a senior cheerleader for Acadiana Christian Athletics (Home School football team). She is the first homeschooler to ever be spotlighted in this magazine, traditionally it is LCA, STM, Acadiana, Lafayette High, etc that have a student spotlight. It is really about what her plans are after school and what HS athletics has meant to her, she also played on the ACA Defenders softball for a couple of seasons. Each edition a local athlete is spotlighted for their athletics and extracurricular activities. Riley is a 4.0+ student with a full ride to Regent University in Va Beach, she also is a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes as well as a ton of other activities in the community.
Congrats Dave!

This is a link to last edition. If you go to page 64 you will see the student athlete spotlight, again this is not the latest edition, just some perspective.
without one diminishment to what Riley has done, this is also a testament to the concept that parenting works . . . if more would parent as parents should parent, we would have a whole lot more Riley’s out there making hay in this country . . . Congrats Dave AND Riley . . .
Congratulations Mr. & Mrs. Amato on a great kid
