Thread: CFP Loophole

    Default CFP Loophole

    In a what if scenario.

The Big 12 needs extreme chaos the last few weeks of the season.

Boise needs to absolutely dominate and become the 4th highest ranked conference champion.

We win out and take the SBC title. Winning every game by 17 or more. Climb to the upper teens in the ranking.

There’s a shot both Boise and the Cajuns make the CFP.

While yes there is a shot it won't happen. We already are behind 3 loss teams

But, if they don't win their conference championship, it doesn't matter. If by chance, and it is a very long shot, Louisiana and Boise both win their conference and are ranked higher that the Big 12 champion, they are both in. I cannot even begin to calculate the odds of that happening, but, according to the rules, that is how it would work.

Ah, you picked up on my Tulane post (not only 7-2, but 7-2 against the spread and in most instances obliterated the spread) we need to win and win convincingly to finish the season in order to increase our chances . . .

But the powers that be can just move the big 12 champ ahead of any g5 champ in the rankings after championship weekend. They can say their championship win was better than the g5 champ wins. This is all still subjective. They will do what they want.

    Best Case scenario is:
CO State vs. Boise St in the MWC championship and CO State wins it.
Army loses a few like Navy and it is either one vs. Tulane in AAC championship, and Army or Navy with two losses wins AAC.
Then UL wins out and wins the SBC championship then we get the auto bid to CFP.

Or, we don't get screwed by a garbage TV contract and we win a nightime Tulane game, going undefeated, making the playoff.

The A4 failsafe scenario will get exposed at some point.

I don't understand this. Did we have to play in the middle of the day and Tulane got to play at night? I thought both teams played under the same conditions.

Tulane plays all their games during the day . . . it’s their preferred time to play . . . our fans on the other hand prefer to play at night so they had no fight for the Tulane game . ..

Truth. Exactly. We lost fair and square due to a pick 6, and allowing a 2nd half kick off return for TD to the house. Further, we could not stop their running game as their O Line was dominating out D Line. All that said we still had a shot to go down and tie the game twice and failed.

I don’t understand this either. They were dealing with the same thing we were. I thought we were somewhat evenly matched and they made a few more plays. I also think that having Rusty Whitt as their strength and conditioning coach paid dividends for them.
