Now yall are starting to get it. Everyone got on my case for being dismissive about winning our 6th game.
We have to think bigger. Being in the hunt for the CFP up until the last few weeks of the season will do wonders for this program. Way more than some run of the mill bowl game.
Keep winning each game in front of us and let the chips fall where they may.
As I understand it, the G5 is not designated as such. However, the top 5 conference champions are awarded an automatic bid. There are now only 4 "Power" conferences, so de facto the highest rated G5 champion is automatically in. I believe that is correct.
So, I don't think it matters what happens to teams in the "Poser" conferences, only what the Boises and Armys and Tulanes do.
The criteria for the College Football Playoff (CFP) include the following:12345
The five highest-ranked conference champions and the next seven highest-ranked teams earn a spot in the 12-team bracket.
There is no limit to how many teams from one conference can qualify.
Starting in the 2024-25 season, the top four conference champions will be seeded 1-4 and receive a first-round bye.
Teams seeded 5-12 will play each other in the first round on the home field of the higher-ranked team.
The committee considers strength of schedule, head-to-head results, and conference championships.
Per ESPN
Who qualifies for the college football playoff?
The five highest-ranked conference champions and the next seven highest-ranked teams will earn a spot in the 12-team bracket. There is no limit to how many teams from one conference can qualify. The rules also don't guarantee spots for certain conferences. The champions of the Big 12, SEC, ACC and Big Ten will almost certainly routinely qualify, though, along with the highest-ranked champion from the Mountain West, American Athletic Conference, Sun Belt, Mid-American Conference or Conference USA.
There is no minimum ranking requirement for the five highest-ranked conference champions. There could be a conference champion ranked No. 23, for example, that's the fifth highest-ranked league winner and earns a spot in the playoff -- at the expense of the committee's No. 12 team.
