I see very little chance in making the CFP.....this year. But for next year.....
The only way I see the Cajuns making it is to:
1-Win the Conference the year before (This year for example)
2-Ranked at the beginning of the next year.
3-Go undefeated and rise in the rankings in the next year.
It's a 2 year plan, and it's because:
1-Our schedule is relatively weak.
2-We don't have name recognition........yet, unless we start making the CFP and then we will.
3-Teams ahead are not likely to lose.
Someone needs to teach Dan McDonald and the rest of UL production team the actual playoff rules. During the game there was a segment where they perpetuated the statement that the highest ranked G5 champion makes the playoff and that they are the 12 seed and that the top 4 p4 champions get byes. None of that is correct. You think we are gonna be able to market our being in the running for a spot but don’t even know the rules? Keep dreaming.
Cajuns are currently 27th in coaches poll behind Tulane. Went from 27 votes to 42, Tulane has 85 for the record
I think the committee sees more value in a 1 loss Louisiana with a P4 road win on their resume, than a 2 loss Tulane with their best win being on the road at Louisiana (G5). Now, that can change over the course of the next few weeks and this is my opinion only. Fact is, the AP and Coaches Polls have Tulane slightly higher. Wake Forest did us no favors last night.
Tulane comes in ranked 25 in the AP. There goes that. We now need them to lose as well.
Any chance of getting LSU in a bowl game? Other than the CFP playoff hopes that would be awesome.
Louisiana football has ended the year ranked in all polls in 2020 and 2021.
If we end the year ranked in 2024 then that means Louisiana has been ranked 3 of the last 5 years in all college football polls. I would say that we are consistent winners and one of the top football programs in the nation if that happens. Think about it? We need our banners hung at the new stadium!!!!!!!! Hopefully Acadiana begins to support one of the top football programs in the nation in our own back yard!!!!!!
