Thread: Ragin Cajun CFP chances

SBC and other perceived lower conferences have consistently beaten and competed with current BIG 12 teams. That conference is no better than the MWC, AAC, and SBC going forward. The pundits just try and make it a perception that they are. Remember top 5 highest ranked conference champs get in. Still a possibility that MWC, AAC, and or SBC get two of those the way the BIG 12 has fallen off the map. BYU is their top team that is undefeated which is basically a peer university of all the other old so called G5 conferences.

This is great publicity being in the CFP conversation and deserved. Every game from here on becomes a knock out game for Boise, Army, UL, etc. Great theatre that's for sure. Memphis just had its knock out game loss to UTSA. We need a three loss Tulane to overtake them. And of course we must win out. This season's first CFP rankings will be interesting to say the least.

I agree that a third Tulane loss is ideal. But what I don’t understand is their best win is vs. Louisiana. They lost both their P4 games and have only beaten G5s. If Wake Forest can somehow get to Bowl eligibility does a 12-1 Louisiana get in over an 11-2 Tulane? I don’t see Army beating Notre Dame and Memphis and Navy are now unranked with two losses. How good is that resume?

At the end of the day, it’s still a HUGE long shot for us. Our guys and coaches can only focus on the game in front of them. We haven’t really dominated anyone except Grambling and Kennesaw. There’s not much room for error in any of our remaining games.

That said, the fact we continue to find a way to win, despite not being able to outright dominate the game, certainly shows resiliency of our players, and a coaching staff with Coach Dez that evidently has this entire team bought in on “trusting the process”, and one way or another, it continues to keep working out with us having more points than the other team.

And for fans…it’s pretty damn cool to see our name up there with other teams and Gameday talking about our chances for a CFP slot. Honestly never thought I’d see the day.

It's all good, but first things first. WIN OUT our last 4 games, which then puts the Sun Belt Championship on CAJUN FIELD.

Tulane has 41. I honestly don’t understand how a two loss team from a G5 gets that many votes.

Their last two seasons are helping them. Agreed it shouldn’t, but it is.

Anyone with eyes can see they're a good team. Who you lose to matters. They should most certainly be ranked ahead of UL

Not saying that aren’t a good football team. Their best wins are Louisiana and North Texas. You think if their jersey read NMSU they would have 41 votes? Absolutely not.

Tulane is not only 7-2, they are 7-2 against the spread and in most games beat the spread handedly . . . they are a good football team, as we are . . .

Big Buds, I'd chalk it up to there's media bias giving Tulane the benefit of the doubt due to success of prior two seasons opposed to our underachieving last year. You see it up and down the Top 25 poll. Saban was worth at least +3 ranking spots, maybe more. Boise for example has a multi decade track record of winning their conference, getting NY6 bids. Central FL went through it several years ago when Frost was coaching there. It was second year of running the table before the media gave them true ranking credit they deserved. CMD is building up his street cred with the national media and our fanbase. Win the SBC this season and the Cajuns will be ranked. If that's enough to make CFP this year depends on if Boise and Army falter and of course Cajuns need to win out. Like the cliche says, this team needs to take it one game at a time.
