7 doesn’t matter. We are basically in 3rd behind whoever wins the mwc(Boise) and whoever wins the aac(4 teams
ahead of us)
AAC could/should knock each other off, leaving UL in 2nd spot at the end. With the only chance of making the CFP being Colorado State or UNLV upset Bosie in the MW CCG. Its really Boise spot to lose with not much competition remaining for them.
There is a pecking order ESPN and the A2 uses. The SBC needs their champ to be undefeated just to have a chance.
Ashton Jeanty alone will get Boise in. Just for being a Heisman front runner.
Boise still has to play Oregon state(non conf) at the end of the season.
Nope, because the powers that be will have the final say.
Across the sports spectrum, these feel good polls also erodes any significance the G6 has in the general public.
It’s like “mid majors” in MBB. Unless your program is a power conference member or a private deep pocket program like Gonzaga, you’re a “mid major”, regardless if you’re in the 7th strongest conference or the 34th. Every time that MBB mid major poll comes out and fans get all lubed up over it, it’s accepting “know your place”.
Same goes for football, or any sport. Admitting you’re not good enough.
IMHO, I’ll take the votes today the FB team is receiving in the big boys polls than being on top the FCS poll all day long, and much less, a G6 poll.
What does ANY poll matter??
Well for me, as a 42 year+ long UL fan, who dreamed every year to have a team -first good enough to get into a bowl, then good enough to be ranked (dreams came true first in 2011 then in 20 and 21), being ranked ANYWHERE is awesome! And Helps me brag -just a little bit - to others!
Polls let you know what others think of you.
Get in one type, stay out of the other.
As David letterman used to say “we polled several people - and we know how painful that can be…”
