Don’t forget Dez. He might be the best of the bunch.

That has been the basketball model for a decade and a half.

Basketball is doing exactly the opposite of what it needs to do.

There have been a number of larger P4 teams that have traveled to G5 schools this year. I mean, UMASS got Missouri to go play them even though Missouri has been ranked the last few years. That is just one of a number of higher profile teams to travel this year.

Def crazy to call him an idiot, and those are great hires. But.....he also keeps extending Marlin. And that IS idiotic.

That's pretty straight-forward. They did the way we've done it: offer big bucks.

We could offer big bucks again. We probably will in the future.

But to offer big bucks we have to pull them from somewhere else. Would you rather pull them from the stadium? From coaches' salaries? From academics and research?

As people have noted before, we hate LSU so much we want to be just like them. The only way that some people can envision a successful university, is to spend gobs of money on athletics, and win at sports.

I have mentioned here repeatedly that we are passing LSU up in academics, with a tiny fraction of their resources. And academics is our central mission.

    Not football.

And yet, everywhere we can see schools that put Athletics in front of more important things. Schools that think that winning at sports will solve everything. We have seen that with a number of schools in the state, and they are all falling behind us. Because we don't have that philosophy.

For my part, I like the fact that we have a football coach who is not intimidated to go on the road and take on anyone. I don't know whatever happened to Bobby Bowden's great quote, "Anyone, anytime, anywhere."

Hard to grow a fanbase with that mentality.
I have heard many people say over the years, including some of the smartest people I know, "Winning solves everything."

So riddle me this Batman: How is it the more we win, the smaller our crowds get?

    I agree.

I would support a half dozen "Anyone, anytime, anywhere" game relationship at any given period of time. In exchange for an eventual return game.

All it would take is two "Anyone, anytime, anywhere" games annually.

This is a long term outlook. It could take three or four "Anyone, anytime, anywhere" games with a single opponent before it bears home game fruit.

In the meantime there is a financial gain plus a perception gain.

Advertising that makes money while promoting.
