Hear that.
The teams and fans of the 70s death penalty to the Dome of the early 00's would never dream the Cajundome would look the way it does today. And none of these folks have forgotten about the glory days. Maybe the dome itself could sell seats. And a throwback night in Blackham might do some "re-kindling"
Been a painful overall downward slide since Blackham. Gave up a serious home court advantage for modern amenities. Got to say I witnessed the first omen of things to come in the dome. Campus security in the student section THE VERY FIRST GAME. Won’t beat the dead horse of all the things that got UL where they are today. But looking back, I can’t say I’m surprised.
I can remember an '02 or '03 season game whereas I was having Thanksgiving with a large turnout of family from all over and cutting out early and haulin' ass to get back to Lafayette for Cajuns ball in the Dome.
Not a thrilling story but one that has always stuck with me as to how good the Program was way back then. Still had the half court logo with the net. And a transfer from Florida who was a great addition to Southaw and them.
And the NIT rules change…again.
