C4L. I’ve had time to ponder your post about bowl game aspirations. While I always want the guys to have a 13th or 14th game, I do agree with you about the 6-win idea. In our current college bowl environment, there’s an overstock of bowl games. But if it comes down to a surplus of 6 win teams to choose from; we could be left at home. I absolutely agree that while 6 wins at the is point is great, it’s not enough anymore. We need to be no less than 8-4.

Once this stadium is 100% complete in 2027 we will be the crown jewel of the SBC and nearly every other G5 league.

We completely underachieved last season, losing way too many close games. Still made a bowl game. This ain’t the program I was a walk-on at. We had a rebirth with T-Joe and Bustle.

Want to grow the fan base, have LaTurd and Tulane on the schedule more often. Play in and WIN the SBC Championship damn near every year. Make the CFP as the G5 rep a couple of times. The base will grow. It’s all completely in our grasp.

No, we don’t have a shot at winning a National Title. Not unless one of y’all are Elon rich and NIL goes to $15M a year for just football. But we have a better shot of making the CFP than 40 P5 programs.
The coaching staff and AD have the playoff as a goal as well. We need a very significant increase in NIL support to make that happen no matter how hard and how smart the staff works. Consider we are having trouble acquiring QB Club sponsors for the remaining meetings this season. That 2000 dollar payment goes to the player guest who speaks. If we are having trouble in that regard, we are a long way from obtaining the financial support truly needed.

I understand many fans don’t think during games. They simply ooze with emotion on every play and don’t truly think like an athlete or coach. They are not supposed to as that is not their role. Better that people really care than being nonchalant about our team. Personally, I am not built that way. I simply look to see if the players perform with controlled intensity when things go bad. My engineer type brain logic never lets emotion override the situation. I keep thinking let’s keep fighting as long as we have a chance.

Sadly, this is a microcosm of the problem of not growing RCAF and a fan base past the parish line. NIL just put another fishing line in the same pond. Need other ponds.

Mike the struggle to get sponsors fall squarely on Maggard and indirectly Dez.

Before anyone says I hate Dez again, let me clarify. Dez has to get more comfortable with being visible and present through Acadiana. This year was a great improvement, so Kudos. But the AD and HC at a program like ours must understand that we are a peripheral event, which we need to sell to the public as THE EVENT.

NIL is what it is, part of the game, but it’s an excuse. We will never be in a position to keep players who build a valuation that we can’t afford. Doesn’t mean we don’t stop recruiting and develop those players.

Sometimes our culture, campus and if we ever put it all together, atmosphere might keep a kid who gets courted by another program. Loyalty matters, to an extent.

As a fan base and administration we have to get over the negative mindset of our limitations stopping success. Limitations are just that, a perceived hinderance to stopping effort to achieve what we need to reach our ceiling.

I think this is a reasonable criticism of Dez. It shouldn’t be what the coach has to do, but it is.

HUD was the king of that part of the job.

I wish it wasn’t part of the job, but unfortunately it is.

There will never be another Hud.

Hud was the original "Whassup" Whats app.

But that doesnt mean there cant be a Deztination Louisiana Production.

DeziLou Productions can make it happen.

Man, you just described “USL’ing” it.

The water/Tulane is a great example. It’s the junction where “we tried, oh well” should be “what can we do better”. Excuses and responsibility shifting was in full gear.

We don’t need to look far, there’s at least two smaller universities in this state out hustling UL right now.
