This thread is funny
Every damn postgame. You guys _____ at each other. Every game. Give it a fricking rest. It’s us against the world. Not us against each other.
Amazing feeling to beat them on their field. I got pumped for this one when I saw Chris Smith’s tweet pregame saying, “Coastal you can’t run today.” Good to see that guys like that haven’t forgotten the opportunity that was taken from them and were ready for the 2024 Cajuns to get some vengeance.
Plenty of things to improve upon, but I think this was a game that most Cajun fans looked at and said “please just win.” Mission accomplished and to put it away in backbreaking fashion was too damn good.
I’m sure with a lot of good, the staff will have several negative things on film to review with the guys. Few I noticed: missed tackles galore (again), dropped passes, procedure penalties, and a really bad after the play personal foul. Interesting thing with the drops was I think we had 4 and all different targets. Ben has trust in a lot of guys, and hopefully the guys can reward him for that going forward. Needs to keep slinging it all over the field. The drive with the late personal foul call was really our most disappointing on defense. Gutted on the ground and just didn’t show composure. Bayliss nearly picked up a penalty and then next play we throw a guy down way late. Another small gripe but please no to the gun celebrations. You can say, “oh that’s soft” or “let them celebrate a big play” but the fact remains we are flipping a coin on getting a penalty doing that. Easy teaching moment for Des and his coaches. No giving away big plays for something stupid.
There were a couple mind boggling series playcalling wise, but I’m seeing definite improvements out of Des himself. For example, much of the negatives I listed above are execution issues. Guys put in a position to succeed and not always doing so. Des’ first two years there were just as many head scratchers out of the coaches than the players. Again, not to say there aren’t any out of the coaching staff now, but if you look at the last 3 weeks, if guys make the plays they were put in position to make, we likely aren’t sweating out victories until the final minutes.
Guess the team…
The failure to even conduct a coaching search is looking really bad, especially for that kind of $. Maybe “Whale” will throw us a bone and donate to buy out “coach” if this keeps heading downhill
Names removed, but it just sounds so familiar.
Earlier post in the thread is another reminder why I don’t participate on here during game action. World is not ending whenever we have to punt or give up 2 consecutive first downs.
