Trainers at Red's Gym in Lafayette are used to training women in the gym, but on Saturday women have a thing or two to teach them.

Red’s trainer, Kevin Castille, said "I'm used to running the 5K, I mean I've been running forever and now they want me to walk in heels, so a little different… challenging."

Red's Gym is sponsoring the 4th annual Walk a Mile in Her Shoes to raise awareness about sexual assault towards women and children.

Development Director, Tiffany Kimbell, said "people don't think it happens here, but the reality is it happens more often than you would think right here in our community."

Castille said, "you know it's for a good cause…it's fun. Here I have a lot of fun with my coworkers every day, so why not bring it in the community."

Another trainer Robbie Adams has been preparing for days to be ready to race.

Adams said, "I took them home for a few days and practiced for a little bit...my daughter said she wanted heels just like daddy has."

Adams isn't just concerned about walking in heels...he wants to be fashionable as well.

"I requested open toes, so I could let my daughter paint my toe nails for me, I thought that'd be a nice touch," Adams said.

If you're interested in participating, call 269-1557 or visit www.TheHeartsofHope.org.

Racers can register as late as Saturday; extra heels will be on-site for anyone in need of a pair. The event will begin at 9 and the race kicks off at 10 at the the town square in River Ranch.
