Thread: Cajuns FG Record

    Default Cajuns FG Record

Kenny’s 60 yard near miss before halftime made me think: what is the record for longest made FG at UL? Surely the 60 would’ve broken it, but I don’t know the answer. I’m assuming it belongs to Baer, but I can’t find any information through google or our stats website. Btw, Kenny’s 53 yarder in the second half (which proved to be crucial) was a new career high for him.

Rafael Septién 57 yarder in 1972? I believe is what Dan McDonald mentioned last night

When he tried the 60 yard fg, saw him testing the wind direction which was from the SW, or his left to right. When he kicked it, three flags on top of the north side were still. I bet he was banking on the ball being pushed to the right, but it didn't happen. He missed it left. Just speculating. Hell of a try!

When I try to get a little extra on a golf shot I usually pull it left. Haha

57 yarder vs Lamar for Septien.

Might need an asterisk for that one because I'm pretty sure they were kicking off of a platform tee back then.

Yes we were. Easier for the kicker but harder for the holder.

Although Tulane OL outweighed USL DL by 35 lbs per lineman, “USL pursued like a hungry shrimper after a bowl of gumbo.”!!!!

Didn't someone else make a 59 yarder? Cunningham? Schafer?

Nope. Just checked record book. Septian has it at 57.

Wasn't that Boomer mentioned in the article as having the FG record of 47 yds before being broken? He might have been the last straight-on kicker before soccer style took over.

………Yes it was I…..kidded Kenny one time that there was one record he would never break of the longest Fg…..I then mentioned a straight on kick…… I actually broke my grandpa’s best at LSU of 45yards…..although his was a DROP KICK in 1902….I do think that I was but a few that scored points rushing, receiving, extra points, and field goals……and we played defense and all special teams…..different times with fewer points….I finished with 127 in my years….Geaux Cajuns!
