I like the balance we have on offense. Our passing game really has some weapons and I wish we were a little more vertical from time to time. Our OL, for as big as it is, is just not a very physical line. I know some will probably disagree but we just don't get to pushing a lot of teams around, especially later in the game with that size.

My main concern is defense. We are just not putting a lot of pressure on the QB as a whole and our weakness is definitely stopping the power running game. We did come alive with 5 turnovers on Saturday night and honestly, that's probably what won the game for us. We need to start turning up the pressure from the defensive front and finding a way to stop the run better.

Saturday Night In The Sun Belt

Never expect a normal game. Anything that can happen WILL happen. Tailgate was good. Used the new Smokey Joe & it worked great for a small pit. Got my peanuts from Mr Vic’s, paid cash for me beer, enjoyed some crawfish nachos, & the Cajuns won. Just glad it was a Gatorade that I dropped & not a beer after the game. My postgame victory beer exploding may have ruined the night.

We’ve shown flashes on offense the first 2 Des years, but could not keep a QB on the field. That or they were splitting time and we know how that impacted the team.

They got to 5-1 for a few different reasons, but you better believe having BW taking virtually every snap is a big factor.
We have a very capable and experienced QB2. Why on earth would you play your injured QB1 against an inferior opponent, at home, instead of letting him heal before a couple of huge road games?
    Why?

To avoid second guessers, which didn't work because that is a valid question.

Long term healthy should be priority one.

    Yes!
It's like playing an injured Tommy Hodson when Micky Guidry is sitting on the bench

Ben played well and we won. If chandler played and we lost this place would be livid.

Offense wasn’t sharp. Defense struggled to stop run. Special teams had a bad punt and a missed FG (a very long one but missed). In spite of that we won. I like wins. So much better than losing.
We won a game that we easily could have lost that day.

Exactly. You win the game in front of you. If our backup is so capable (and I think he is) then you use him when you need him. I have all confidence that if we need the #2 over the next few games, we will be in good hands.

DB's won the game for UL. Not just the pics and the fumble recovery, overall, they were swatting balls left and right out of WR hands.

A couple of things here, App QB threw the ball expecting his receivers to make the catch whether open or not. He made getting 4 picks much easier due to his aggressiveness throwing to covered receivers.

We have had problems setting the edge against the run all season. It's become painfully obvious and we need to fix it or it will be the reason we lose a game(s) the rest of the season. We have several, very athletic DE's, 6'4ish types but in the 240-250 weight range. The don't set the edge and turn those runners back inside. Was happy to see our big RS freshman DE, Chase Edwards no. 41 play more snaps. He had a sack too! He's 6'7, 270+ pounds. I think lack of size hurts us there.

Also, I sure wish they would change the way they tackle and try going lower and wrapping up the runner's legs. That always seems to work well when a runner's legs are wrapped together, it makes it hard to keep running. Sarcasm on high!

With all due respect, I don't think its the edge we need to worry about. We are getting plowed between the tackles. We are light up front and even our speed guys are having trouble getting off of blocks in the passing game.
