Louisiana knocked one of the biggest monkeys in memory off its back.

    "Undeniable"

I didn't really put it together until you posted that. This is incredible, and he is doing this just 2 years after Billy, NIL and the Portal had raided the place.

I'm proud of him. I'm proud of our players. I'm proud of the administration for having the forethought to promote CMD and navigate this program so well through the crazy times.

I really love where this program is and where it is heading.

    Can't wait for Saturday.

I’m with you. I like Mike. He was put in a bad spot. He’s fighting through it and learning along the way. He has a good football IQ, just needed experience.

WF beat a NCST team that sucks bad as they do.

We’ll know more about the Cajuns after the next 3 games. 7-5 won’t make me giddy.

    Good post Zephyr.
They were 5-3 after losing their starting qb, then the 2nd string QB broke his leg. Seems kind of relevant.

Coach Des, I expect, is exactly what we need. But he is not exactly what some of you want.

A lot of you want someone like a Nick Saban, win, baby win. But what we need is somebody like a Robichaux: someone who keeps us in the rankings most years, keeps the focus on the overall university, and excels at producing players who are good human beings.

When you bring in big time athletics, you bring in big time bank-rollers. These are sad, unfortunate people who don't care about our university, who don't care about our kids, who don't care about our community.

All they're interested in is bragging rights on Monday morning.

We don't need those people here.

And I, for one, don't want them anywhere near my University.

This Napier crown is nothing but a faux crown when you look at where things were in college football when he was successful and where they ended when Des took over (not to mention him raiding this little Sunbelt team to try and compete in the SEC . . . yes, I said it ALL

UL will tell you to your face. We don’t want big time athletics here. We don’t want big time donors. And then wonder why “our kids” spend their Saturday nights in Baton Rouge. Wonder why “our kids” who grew up in Acadiana, went to school at UL, settled down and raised kids of their own in Acadiana have 5 season tickets to LSU and couldn’t tell you who UL is playing this weekend. Entire generations who don’t think about UL one second before they step on campus or one second after. That’s sad man.

I'll take it a step further, many people in Lafayette and the surrounding area don't truly grasp the economic impact UL has on the community. Without UL, Lafayette looks considerably different.

Unfortunately in today’s world of collegiate athletics, you’re going to have to bring in these types of people in order to compete on a national stage. The real question is who do we want to be? Do we want to be the 2021 team who can now compete in the 12-team playoff and a chance to at least play for a national championship? Or do we want to be McNeese? I think we sometimes catch ourselves somewhere in the middle while I think we can do both.

We can embrace the community and everything we stand for as a university while we also use the massive success of athletics to boost our brand in increasing enrollment and making this place attractive nationally.
