I am not sure if planning for the future is prudent in today's college athletic landscape. Get what you can, while you can.

The only reasons to say no at this point are if you hold no view at all about being shut out of a Texas based division, or you just don't believe that most of our academic and athletic peers are in the AAC.
I am curious as to why Texas State is seen having a huge market to include Austin and San Antonio on the I 35 corridor while UL sits between Lake Charles and Baton Rouge on the I 10 corridor. Texas State has no more presence in those two cities than UL has in LC and BR. If addressed similarly, UL's market changes dramatically. And, UL is R1 while Texas State is R2.

Let me put in my two cents worth. We should stay in the SBC for now because SBC west division is all bus rides don’t have to charter a plane for the game and with all the school leaving the MWC and even if it’s just a school leaves the AAC just that will put the SBC as 1 of the top 2 or 3 leagues in all sports and when negotiations come around next time SBC should be getting a good boost hopefully in the G6 league now no way PAC will be a power conference anymore.

So, we may not have to face this question now, but we will soon. If AAC only loses Memphis, they will add Texas State immediately, and we would be the only school in our region with our size athletic budget NOT in the AAC.
UL athletic budget is what 40 mil a year? What are the budgets in the AAC. I think we fall well short of the average.

You are jumping way off the deep end on this one. In no way does UTSA want Texas State in the AAC and what exactly does the AAC gain by two programs in close proximity sharing the same market? That's some deep speculation.

Don't forget the ACC members each get $40 million from their TV deal alone.

Louisiana gets $2.5 million from the SBC in compensation for giving up 6 games a year.
